ComposIT

Terms of Service

Effective October 2, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of ComposIT. Please read them before you create an account.

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using composit.app (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. The Service is operated by Charles Curtis Hays ("ComposIT", "we", "us"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

ComposIT processes video files you upload: format conversion and export, client review links with time-coded comments, and related tools. The Service is provided for professional and business use. You must be 18 or older to create an account.

The Service is offered only to individuals and businesses located in the United States. By creating an account, you represent that you are located in the United States.

You are not located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions, and you are not on any U.S. government restricted-party list.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Sign-in is provided by our identity provider. Tell us at support@composit.app about any unauthorized use.

4. Price

The Service is free while it is in beta. We will not charge you unless you explicitly agree to a paid plan. If we offer paid plans, the price, billing interval, renewal terms, and how to cancel will be shown to you before you buy, and no charge will be made until you agree to them.

5. Your Content

You keep all ownership of the files you upload and the outputs the Service generates from them. You grant ComposIT a limited, non-exclusive license to store, copy, transcode, process, and transmit your content only to operate the Service, including generating the export formats and review links you request. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the retention described in our Privacy Policy, and except where the law requires us to preserve content. We do not use your content to train AI or machine learning models. We do not claim ownership of your content and will not sell it.

You represent that you own or have the rights to all content you upload, and that your content does not infringe anyone else's rights.

6. Acceptable Use

You will not:

  • Upload content that is illegal, infringing, or that you do not have the rights to process
  • Upload or share child sexual abuse material. This results in immediate termination and a report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
  • Upload or share an intimate image of a person without that person's consent
  • Upload malware or attempt to compromise the Service
  • Get around rate limits, plan limits, or access controls
  • Use the Service as general file hosting or as a content distribution network unrelated to video processing work
  • Resell the Service or provide it to third parties, except through features built for that purpose, such as client review links
  • Scrape or bulk-download other users' content

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, and we may disable access to content that violates it.

7. Review Links

Anyone who has a review link you generate can open it unless you set a password. You are responsible for who you share links with and for the content shared through them. Links expire according to the settings you choose.

8. Content Reports

To report content on the Service that infringes copyright, shows a person in an intimate image without consent, or exploits a child, follow the process on our Copyright and Content Reports page.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, its software, design, and branding belong to ComposIT. These Terms give you no rights to the platform itself. We may use feedback you give us about the Service without any obligation to you.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time, and you may ask us to delete your account by emailing support@composit.app. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violating these Terms or when the law requires it. When we terminate an account, we will make its content available for download for 14 days, unless the termination is for illegal content or is required by law. After that, content is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT OUTPUTS WILL MEET THE BROADCAST OR DELIVERY SPECIFICATIONS OF ANY THIRD PARTY. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR QUALITY CONTROL OF YOUR DELIVERABLES.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COMPOSIT'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits. Where that is the case, they apply to the fullest extent the law permits.

13. Indemnification

You will defend and indemnify ComposIT against claims arising from your content or from your violation of these Terms.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Oregon.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms. We will announce material changes by email or in the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after the effective date, you accept the updated Terms.
